  2. Repetition in a song or poem refers to a word or phrase that occurs multiple times throughout the piece. • Why might an author choose to repeat a certain word or phrase? • To emphasize a main idea or theme in the piece • To add to the rhyme or meter of a piece Repetition

  3. “Free Verse” refers simply to a song or poem that does not have a regular rhyme or meter. Free Verse

  4. Using the word you selected from the board, write a free verse poem that uses the word in every line. • Think about multiple meanings or different ways in which your word could be used. • Aim for a minimum of 10 lines. Practice with free verse and repetition
