  1. Squares and Cubes in Food By Miharu Furuta

  2. Square Watermelons Square watermelons can grow in fact without chemicals or anything of such, all you need is a cube shaped glass box when the watermelon just starts growing, and it will become the shape of the box as it matures. They’re grown in this shape since they are easy to pack and ship away into large boxes, another reason is because they are grown in Japan, it might be because Japanese have small fridges that are cluttered, a square watermelon might not roll out or it could fit perfectly in a small fridge without cluttering it up too much. http://www.crown-melon.com/square_melon.html

  3. Tofu Tofu is a bean curd that is made by coagulatingsoy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks that we call tofu. It is used mostly in Asia and is usually altered in taste to suit the dish, many vegetarians use this as a substitute for meat and eat it often as well as soy beans. Tofu is seen in many shapes the most common is a square or rectangle. The reason is that it’s convenient to cut into neat shapes as well as originally tofu molds were made of wood slabs, it was easier to make squares out of the slabs instead of any other shape such as a circle. Since that was how tofu was made in the past that’s how it’s made up until now as tradition. http://www.asianfoodgrocer.com/category/tofu

  4. Processed cheese Processed cheese is a type of cheese made from regular cheese and extra salt and unfermented ingredients, it is used in different sadwiches, grilled cheese and other foods. It’s comes in many colors, textures and flavors. Processed cheese is used mostly in sandwiches and for that reason the processed cheese is in a square shape since it is to fit bread nicley and neatly without being too large or floppy. http://blog.fooducate.com/2012/04/24/10-things-to-know-about-processed-cheese-cheese-miniseries-part-23/

  5. Ravioli Ravioli is a traditional type of Italian pasta filled with different things. It’s mainly made of flour, eggs and water. It’s mostly seen in a square shape with a large buldge from the stuffing. The reason it is in a square shape is that it’s stamper is made into a square shape, for main reasons as it’s easier to make rather than a circle shape. http://www.europeanfood.co.nz/?q=products/ravioli
