Chapter 3: Creation by Ross Whittaker and Zack Hayes
Creation Stories • The Stories of Creation vary from culture to culture with a few fundamental similarities. • Usually the world starts out as nothingness or an environment where nothing can live, but then something arises from the nothingness and starts to create. • There are also opposing forces in creation stories such as God and the serpent in our creation story, or Odin and Ymir in the Norse Creation story. • They also explain events of nature such as why snakes slither on their stomachs and our creation story and how the gods drew on the tree to mark when people will die to explain why people die.
