What is Global Warming? Global warming is the increase in temperature of the Earth’s Atmosphere and Oceans.
What causes global warming? Greenhouse Effect Warming that happens when certain gases are released in the Earth’s atmosphere.
Examples of Greenhouse Gases • Emission of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels. Example: Driving a car and Cutting down and burning trees • What are Fossil Fuels? Coal, oil, natural gases • Gases released naturally such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.
What Else Causes Global Warming? Pollution The contamination of soil, water, or the atmosphere by the discharge of harmful substances.
Types of Pollution Land Pollution- Pollution of the soil from industrial, domestic, and agricultural activities. Examples: Littering, Overcrowded Landfills, and Nuclear Plants
Types of Pollution Air Pollution: hazardous substances in the atmosphere that danger human lives and other living things. Examples: Acid Rain, Wildfires, and Automobile Emissions
Types of Pollution Water Pollution: waste matter in a body of water that degrades the quality of life Examples: Oil Spills, Littering, Sewage, and Household Chemicals
How can we fix it? Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!!! Reduce! The amount of waste you create. Reuse! When you are done with something pass it on or use it again. Recycle! Turns wastes into something new. You can also plant trees to reduce greenhouse gases.
What Can I Recycle? Plastic Glass Paper Aluminum Cardboard Everyone and every little bit can help!!!
