  3. Changes in the Handbook Uniform Bottoms for Girls: -Leggings and tights cannot be worn. Grooming Component: -7th and 8th grade males may have well-groomed, neatly trimmed facial hair that is not distracting in length, style, or color. Cell Phones -1st Offense results in a Saturday Detention. -2nd Offense results in a 2 day ISS.

  4. School Finder Louisiana School Finder can be used by anyone to view any Louisiana Public School’s SPS score along with other demographic data. Louisiana School Finder

Grading Policy · Teachers are required to have a minimum of 8 – 10 assignments/assessments over each nine-week grading period consisting of a variety of assessed student work including (but not limited to) formal interim major tests, unit assessments, shorter formative quizzes, research products/projects, fluency checks, demonstrations/checklists, and student classwork/daily practices. Points shall be assigned to students for each assignment/assessment and at the end of the nine-week period, a percentage grade shall be computed by dividing the points earned by the total possible points.

Grading Policy Homework, if used as a grade, should not be graded on correctness, but rather on completion o The assignments/assessments should be distributed throughout each nine weeks and should be scored/graded and posted to the electronic gradebook by the teacher in a timely manner (within 3 – 5 days). The assignments/assessments and grades should NOT be done all at the end of the grading period but should be distributed equitably throughout each nine-week grading period in order to provide parents and students with ongoing reporting of student learning in a course.

Extracurricular Activities Athletics: Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Archery, Track Clubs: Beta, 4H, Student Council, Girls that Code 8th Grade New Orleans Field Trip: Students earn their way to New Orleans by attaining points through fundraising, community service, grades, and exhibiting good behavior at AES.

Google Classroom (GC) • Each class has its own GC • Assignments/Announcements/Quizzes-Test • Inviting Guardian (**student needs to login to GC before this happens) • ONCE your child has logged into GC, the teacher can invite the guardian • send your email information to the teacher • Accept • Choose frequency for summary YOU ARE LINKED TO ANY CLASS YOUR CHILD IS IN

  9. Class Dojo • Can be used on any device • Parent communication tool • Message teachers • How far back in time can parents see feedback points? Parents can see the last 2 weeks of their child’s feedback points. Teachers can always download a full history of feedback points. Parents can enter multiple parent codes to their account, letting them connect with all of their children’s classes. • When do parents get notified by ClassDojo? ClassDojo notifies parents whenever they receive a new private message, a new Class Story post is added, their child has posted to their Student Story, and on Friday to review their child’s feedback from class.   11. Math 7th and 8th Grade Math is taught in accordance with the Louisiana Student Standards. LA Student Standards Arnaudville Elementary uses the “Big Ideas Math” text series for grades 6-8. Students have access to an abundance of resources online. Big Ideas Grades are typically reflective of LEAP 2025 achievement levels.

  12. Math A- Advanced B- Mastery C- Basic D- Approaching Basic F- Unsatisfactory Students will test using paper and pencil and on the computer via Google Classroom (providing your child with a 21st century education).

Science Breaux Cortez • Gizmos - interactive tools used independently (Chromebook) or whole class • Whole class discussions on topics(good discussions = less independent work) • ISN (Interactive Science Notebook) = place to keep: questions/notes/independent replies • *** complete ANY incomplete work for homework
