Ways to stop polluting • Do not pour pollutants in storm drains • Don’t make factories near oceans or lots of fresh water • Don’t litter stuff like bottles in the water • Don’t pour deadly chemicals in water • Don’t leave the sink running when brushing your teeth • Take shorter showers instead of just relaxing and not doing anything • Don’t burn fossil fuels and create smoke • Make windmills and not make factories to make energy because the factories would make smoke and pollute the water • Don’t put salt on your driveway because the runoff will wash the salt in to the river or lake and pollute it By: Chris

5. Where Is Ground Water found? Groundwater is water that exists within soils and broken rocks underneath the ground. Groundwater is a part of the overall hydrologic cycle. It gets into the ground mostly through rain seeping into the soil, a process called infiltration. Sections of soil and/or rock that hold groundwater (think of them as rocky sponges) from which the water can be taken for us to use are called aquifers. Water is taken from the aquifer to the surface using wells and pumps.Groundwater is water located beneath the earth's surface in soil pore spaces and in the fractures of rock formations. Groundwater is recharged from, and eventually flows to, the surface naturally; natural discharge often occurs at springs and seeps, and can form oases or wetlands. How to prevent contamination to groundwater. • Ground water can become contaminated easily and in Meany was because ground water is rain and it goes there the ground and picks up soil and other materials    also if oil gets in with the rain  it also becomes contaminated. it can also become contaminated when liquid hazardous substances themselves soak down through the soil or rock into the groundwater.  • How to stop contamination • Don’t do any thing that can contaminate water before it rains  if you have oil or toxic waste don’t let it spill or it will contaminate the water By: Grace

Why we should care about groundwater We should care about groundwater because 40% of people living in the United States use groundwater for cooking, drinking, showering, and a lot of other things. 97% of people living in rural areas use groundwater and 30-40% of groundwater is used for farming. Also of the less than 1% of readily available water 98% of that is groundwater. Groundwater is also helps the lakes and rivers flow the way they do. By : Khalil
