  2. The logo for the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi is inspired by the Chakra or the wheel, representing the wheel of time and the circle of life, It symbolises freedom, unity, energy and power.

  4. The Queen’s Baton is designed by the Bangalore based Indian company Felix Designs and incorporates the modern as well as the traditional. It carries soil from all regions of India on its exterior and an embedded GPS module.

  5. The Queen’s Baton Relay covered 190,000 km in 71 countries. • In Australia, the Queens Baton Relay covered Sydney, • Melbourne and Brisbane • Here is the Queen’s Baton in Sydney, with Shera, the mascot, the Lord Mayor of Paramatta and the Indian High Commissioner.

  6. This is the Commonwealth flag being handed over to India by Australia at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006.

  7. THE GREEN GAMES • 3,500,000 trees have been planted in New Delhi. • Green building technology has been used for construction of new venues and infrastructure. • Energy saving fixtures used at all venues. • Water conservation at all venues. • Thyagaraj Stadium – A model green stadium.

  41. Delhi City has put world class infrastructure into place in time for the Games. Delhi Metro – Connects 10 out of the 11 venues. Direct connectivity from the Games village to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (venue of Opening and Closing Games, Athletics) and the Airport. Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal T3 – Eighth largest passenger terminal in the world, with world class facilities; inaugurated in August. CITY INFRASTRUCTURE

  42. DELHI METRO – The Phase I of Delhi Metro covered 76 kms; Phase II, covering 180 km, was built for the Games and is already operational.
