  1. 1. What is the difference between chemical earthing rods/electrodes and chemical Earthing? Chemical Earthing is a process that lowers the ground rod’s resistivity (to the soil), thus making the ground-connection all-the-better and improving ground resistance by injecting conductive chemicals around a ground rod. It contains the use of a backfill compound, chemical earthing rods/electrodes, lightning arresters, and other components which form an integral part of the earthing system. This protects structures like buildings, houses and industries from an electrical surge from lightning with the use of specific compounds and chemical earthing electrodes. Atharva Infrastructures offers environment-friendly chemical earthing systems with cost-effective prices that help everyone afford top-notch and excellent quality protection. Whereas, Chemical Earthing Rods are the “heart” of the chemical earthing system. The electrodes are made of highly conductive materials. They are buried into the pit and are surrounded by the backfill compound. The top portion of the electrodes is connected to the main system of the house or the building where the earthing system is to be installed through a down conductor. Whenever lightning strikes and there is a surge in electricity in the electrical system, the current passes through the down conductor. The chemical earthing rods dissipate the extra surge in current into the earth with the help of the highly conductive backfill compound. Atharva Infrastructures has its own copper bonded rods, ACTROD 2. What are the chemical earthing rods specification? At Atharva Infrastructures, ACTROD is available in three types - Copper (Cu), Galvanised Iron (GI) and Copper-bonded. ACTRODs have a connection plate on the top and a locking disk at the bottom to protect it from theft. The standard length of the rods is 10' (two 5' rods coupled with a coupler) normally but the length of the rods can be increased in the multiples of 5 feet by adding the couplers and the rods. These rods are also available in multiples of 4 feet. ACTRODs, chemical earthing rods/electrodes by Atharva Infrastructures has an excellent life span and a very appreciable load-carrying capacity. Its composition is such that it ensures enhanced performance and a wide range of protection as per the IEEE standards. Moreover, it is made of high tensile strength steel. Its composition is such that it ensures enhanced performance and a wide range of protection. The molecular bonding of the earthing rod’s material is such that it helps to slow down bi-metallic corrosion-causing processes. 2. 3. What are the components of the Chemical Earthing system? The crux of the chemical earthing system is the backfill compound and the electrodes. Atharva Infrastructures’ chemical earthing makes use of a special backfill compound called, SOILTREAT and electrodes called ACTROD. The backfill compound’s purpose is to prevent the electrode from getting corroded and facilitate better current dissipation. It helps maintain the moisture levels in the soil around the system. SoilTreat makes the earth more conductive than any other backfill compound. It is ROHS certified and widely trusted amongst the earthing industry. Moreover, SoilTreat is environmentally friendly. ACTROD are the chemical earthing electrodes which are inserted into the soil and surrounded with the backfill compound. The electrodes are copper bonded rods of superior quality and are made of highly conductive material. ACTROD, our chemical earthing rod has an excellent life span. Its composition is such that it ensures enhanced performance and a wide range of protection.
