  8. In Their own words… • “I am getting ready to leave the Nelson Trust and I never thought I would be in a position to feel so comfortable with being myself and looking forward to what tomorrow brings” • This place put me on the right path, to deal with my problems, to deal with myself and stop blaming other people. • I was scared to come here. I was constantly fighting. I wanted this big “Switch!” and I would change…it didn’t happen like that. But gradually I got involved. Interested. Learning things I never even knew about. Not drinking. Positive ideas. Enjoying life. Gardening. Reading and writing. I stopped fighting my own ego, I learned how to stop fighting myself. • Recovery has given me freedom. In addiction every day was the same, a gradual progression  downwards. Today life is exciting, I’m doing new things. Recovery is about possibilities, finding my potential.
