Why are we here? • National Government policy changed • Technology changes (IPAD & Smart phones) • Our own lessons and experience: • Handling of scale marks in Foundation phase • Subjects – Home Language and First Additional Language • Weights and relationships (changes from quarter to quarter) • Marks (Raw marks & Scale marks) • Confirm that Principal Primary follows CAPS guidelines

  4. CAPS Guidelines • Assessments: • Formal • Informal • Guides for marks and weights: • Continued Assessment • Examinations • Practical tasks • Promotion Requirments • Scales

What changed? • Correct technology platform • Changes has been made to facilitate the following: • High Schools • Double / Parallel medium schools • Timetable • Curriculum set-up can now be done per quarter: • Which subjects are offered • What Learner Outcome / Components are offered • Which Assessments are offered • Weights of Subjects, Components and Assessments • Quarterly weights of subjects can be adjusted • Facilitates schools that does not have 4 quarters • Methodology of entering marks

Who must do what? • 1. “Curriculum Head” (1 person in the school) • Adding of subjects / LO/ Tasks/ Components / Assessments • Full CAPS are already set up • This will thus be only in highly exceptional cases • 2. Subject Head and Heads op Departments • Choosing and setting up of: • Subjects • Learner Outcome / Tasks / Components • Assessments • Class rooms • Teachers • Learners • 3. Teachers • Entering marks

  7. What is in the process? • WHAT will be offered in my school for which grade • HOW will itbe offered at my school • WHERE and by WHOM will it be offered? • WHICH LEANERS will it be offered to? • Link the WHICH LEARNERS to WHERE and by WHOM

What is on our roadmap? • Constant development • Browser independence • Tablet / Smartphone • Processes will be redesigned to accommodate better technology (e.g.. 6 steps learner) • Negotiations to minimise processes and paperwork between schools and departments • Effective Help Desk / Support • Currently 4 people • Please send e-mail to the helpdesk instead of calling
