Increase in amount of students using tablets at the University of Leeds
In the US 25% of college students/college bound students now own a tablet (Pearson Foundation, 2012)
Horizon Report 2012 Higher Education Edition • Tablet computing is one of the 6 technologies to watch for on the near horizon • Students expect to be able to learn on these devices whenever & wherever • Presents new opportunities to enhance learning experiences
Can tablets help us to enhance our learning & teaching practice? • Increased our flexibility of where we offer support • Useful in demonstrating information resources • Made videos to place on VLE • Increased interaction with students • Connect iPad up to projectors
Can we learn from others in higher education? • Tablets pre loaded with educational apps and multimedia content • Enhanced student feedback • Audio recordings of lectures/seminars • Used in clinical areas to access research on demand
