Matthew 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy…”
Luther’s Comment on 1st Commandment “A god is that to which we look for all good and in which we find refuge in every time of need. To have a god is nothing else than to trust and believe him with our whole heart. As I have often said, the trust and faith of the heart alone make both God and an idol.”
Self-Centered Man - Luke 12:17-19 “What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' And he said, 'Iwill do this: Iwill tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. AndI will say to mysoul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”
All is Gods – Ecclesiastes 2:26 “To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness.”
Things Above – Colossians 3:1-2 “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
God Calls Us – Acts 2:38-39 “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
We Belong to God – Colossians 3:3-4 “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears then you also will appear with him in glory.”
Abide With Me I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless; Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?I triumph still if thou abide with me!
