  5. Fact: 2010 was a record year for hunger in the US! 14.6% of American households (approximately 49 million people, including children) struggle to put food on their tables.

  6. Fact: What are some of the causes of hunger around the world and in the US ?

  7. Poverty is the main cause of hunger…

  8. as well as malfunctioning economic systems.

  9. Conflicts often displace people and leave them impoverished.

  10. Hunger‘s own vicious cycle perpetuates the problem.

  11. Fact: ANYONEcan experience hunger!

  12. US Hunger Fact: • An estimated 3,000,000 rural households are food insecure.

  13. US Hunger Fact: • 6.2 million households in the suburbs were food insecure in 2010.

  14. US Hunger Fact: • In 2010, 7.9% of households with senior adults were food insecure.
