Aerodynamics and Streamlining #2 Miss Laverty 2012
Tuesday, April 2nd, 2012 Instructions • Hand out the work books • Grab today’s handout Today’s Agenda • Golf balls • YouTube clips • Streamlining • Title pages
Why does a golf ball have dimples? • Golf balls used to be made of leatherand stuffed with feathers • They then started making smooth balls out of rubber or wood • Golfers began to notice that the ball went a greater distance when it had been used a few times • The used balls had scratches, nicks and bumps • This lead golf ball makers to start purposely putting dimples on the balls so they would travel further
Why does a golf ball have dimples? • The dimples give the ball different flight characteristics • A smooth ball actually creates more drag because the way it travels through the air • The ball with dimples is able to reduce the amount of drag caused by the air

Streamlining Think about how streamlining and aerodynamics is important in everyday life. Work with your table group to create a 2 minute skit that shows at least 3 things you would modify for your topic.
Title Pages • We can now work on every section of the title pages!
