  2. Dangling modifiers are modifiers that appear to modify the wrong word or a word that isn’t in the sentence. An example of a dangling sentence would be: “Positioning himself to make the winning goal in the water polo match, Jacque’s father yelled from the sideline.” (Sebranek 76) The phrase “positioning himself to make the winning goal in the water match “ appears to modify Jacque’s father. An example of corrected sentence would be: “Positioning himself to make the winning goal in the water polo match, Jacque heard his father yelling from the sideline.” (Sebranek 76)

  3. Correct the following sentences: • Still failing to understand the concept, the biophysics professor gave the students a list of extra reading assignments. • My flesh felt creepy after seeing a monster movie. • At the age of four, my grandmother taught me to knit. • To do well in college, good grades are essential. • Crowded in the car, the trip was uncomfortable.
