  3. Outline • Thesis: Media Violence affects children because children mimic what they see around them.   4. The problem • Media violence harms children's minds in every day life . • It teaches them unrealistic out comes to certain situations • Allows them to think that violence is the solution to all problem • If not given the right problem solving tactics it can cause long term affects

  5. Medias response • The medias feels that they should have none of the blame. • Its freedom of speech vs. censorship • A famous Hollywood producer said “When are you going to stop blaming the media and start looking at the home environment and the fact that parents are to monitor what their children are watching.”

  6. Statistics • By the time the average child is eighteen years old, they will have witnessed 200,000 acts of violence and 16,000 murders in the media. • In the USA an average of 20-25 violent acts are shown in children’s television programs each hour (Browne, 2005). • Television alone is responsible for 10% of youth violence.
