  3. Areas of Focus • Teaching, curriculum, and teacher professional development • Special education • Recruitment and enrollment • Leadership development • Organizational effectiveness • Governance and fiscal health • Affordability

  4. Approach to Special Education • Direct services to students • Capacity building among special needs teachers • Capacity building among all teachers • Capacity building among school Heads and leadership teams • Supporting the improvement of organizational structures and school cultures

Special Education for Jewish Day School Students in Greater Boston • Work of classroom teachers and individual schools • Special needs track of BJE PD Day • Professional development work of Sandy Miller-Jacobs/BJE • Work of special educators through Gateways (A merger of JSEC and Etgar L’Noar) • Special needs coordinators in schools • Special needs materials • Emphasis on special needs in strategic planning • Ongoing assessment of Special Needs Initiative
