Tips for safe internet use • Talk to your kids • go over the rules of safe surfing • establish clear ground rules • post safety rules by the computer • Go to Safekids.com for a safety contract.
Discuss responsible behavior • Compare Unsafe behavior offline to unsafe behavior online • talking to strangers • giving out personal information • getting into fights • lying to teachers and parents

General Safety tips • Never give out personal information to people met online especially in public places like chat rooms and bulletin boards, or even contests. • What is personal information: name, age, school, address, phone number, picture, financial information, passwords, or any other information without getting permission
