  2. (1888PressRelease) This event is part of the WOMAN FOR UKRAINE Initiative, an anthology of stories about Ukrainian and American women using their professional and volunteer skills to support Ukraine's war against Russian aggression.

  3. New York, NY - On May 18th at 5:30 pm at the Ukrainian Institute of America, three non-profits will present the Women For Ukraine initiative, an anthology of stories about Ukrainian and American women helping Ukraine fight the war against Russian aggression through their professional and voluntary activities.

  4. The project is a collection of dozens of personal stories of Ukrainian volunteers, paramedics, rescuers, journalists, manufacturing workers, artists, conductors, theatre directors, psychologists, film producers, etc. Some are well-known, while others have remained outside the news and social media spotlight.

  5. The project is a collection of dozens of personal stories of Ukrainian volunteers, paramedics, rescuers, journalists, manufacturing workers, artists, conductors, theatre directors, psychologists, film producers, etc. Some are well-known, while others have remained outside the news and social media spotlight.

  6. “Creating this project, we wanted to showcase how faith in one's work gives them the strength to live on, overcome challenges, and help others. Like Mahatma Gandhi, they change the future for the better by bringing change to the present,” said Tatiana Overina, Founder and CEO of Bleu et Jaune Consulting. “These brave women have transformed their empathy into action, persevered in the face of overwhelming adversity, and have become real game changers for many.”

  7. The event, organized by the Firefighters for Peace Foundation (USA) and Bleu et Jaune Consulting (USA), in collaboration with the Ukrainian National Women's League of America (USA) and the Saving Lives Foundation (Ukraine), will feature a select panel of women who will discuss how the war has changed their lives and the different ways they have found to help Ukraine. Among the panelists are women who have made a meaningful social impact, such as Keri-Lynn Wilson, a renowned conductor of many of the world's leading opera houses and orchestras and founder of the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra, Yuliia “Taira” Paievska, Ukrainian combat medic, Diane Francis, award-winning columnist, bestselling author and investigative journalist, and Mitzi Perdue, author, speaker, and anti-human trafficking activist, along with a number of distinguished businesswomen who have been aiding Ukraine since the beginning of the war: Jen Sidari, CEO and Founder of Angel For Fashion, Natalia Brandafi, General Manager, TRT International, and Anna Arima, CEO/CMO, Deneeze.

  8. Oleksii Holubov, Consul General of Ukraine in New York, will be present as an Honorable guest. Grammy-nominated multimedia artist, violinist, singer, and composer Masha Brodskaya, will perform her composition “U For Ukraine.” May 18th, the event date, coincides with International Vyshyvanka Day. Vyshyvankas are ethnic Ukrainian embroidered clothes that have become a prominent symbol of Ukrainian culture.

  9. In recognition of this beautiful tradition, the dress code for the Women for Ukraine event will be inspired by Vyshyvanka. The My Sleeping Gypsy team has kindly offered to exhibit several of their vyshyvanka pieces at the event, including the Peace Dress, a unique work of art featuring hand-embroidered scenes from the war in Ukraine. This dress depicts the world through the eyes of displaced Ukrainian artists and has traveled across the ocean to be presented at the event. Additional vyshyvankas will be exhibited by the Arka Store NYC Antique collection.

  10. In addition, an online charity auction is being held in the month leading up to the event. The collected funds will go to help the widows of Ukrainian soldiers. “Women may not all be on the frontline, but their efforts are just as vital in winning the war,” says Keri-Lynn Wilson.
