Nature is cyclical; there is virtually no waste in the natural world that does not provide food for other living systems. We need to create an economy that duplicates nature's cycle - wherethe waste from one process is the food for another. Paul Hawken
Darwin RAAF Base 1972 Greg came to Darwin with the RAAF in 1972. Unlike most of the other heritage houses on the base, the single men’s quarters – where he lived for 2 years - are still there.

Protecting biodiversity helps us to safeguard our food supply. Our food supply is at risk when we depend on a small number of species.
resource use Addressing Sustainability issues Feeding the World • Agribusiness supports capital intensive chemical use and wide-scale land exploitation for profit. • Small-scale organic and permaculture farms ‘reduce, re-use and recycle’ their resources to nourish the land.
Respecting Country, Respecting Rights • Use land and water carefully • Don’t practise or endorse colonialism • Consume within carrying capacity limits and • Don’t waste finite resources
Growing food to organic standards • Respecting biodiversity • A biodiverse ecosystem has species resilient to new challenges. • An ecosystem lacking biodiversity is more likely to collapse.
Become informed. • Know what you’re buying, • where it was produced, • under what work conditions. • What was the impact on the environment? • Support ethical businesses that supply • organic food and clothing, • Recycled, re-manufactured building materials • and forest stewardship-approved timber or timber products. • Grow your own organic food. • Stop using household pesticides/insecticides.
