DIGITAL DOCUMENTACCESS Benefits Digital Document Access provides: • Quick, easy access to electronic full text • Full text indexing • Access regardless of the search engine used • Google, GPO, OSTI databases • Back-up copy • Copy of electronic full text cached at OSTI – both new and updated United States Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information

DIGITAL DOCUMENTACCESS How do we proceed? • OSTI can provide labs a listing of bibliographic records that do not currently have access to electronic full text • Fields provided could include: • OSTI ID • Report Number • Title • Author • Publication Date United States Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information

  6. DIGITAL DOCUMENTACCESS Announcing the electronic full text to OSTI • 1. XML Batch • DTD will be provided • 2. Site-specific FTP area • Can be used if not posting full text at site • 3. DIGITAL DOCUMENTACCESS OSTI Digitization of Documents • SRC Requests • Special Projects • OSTI Microfiche Digitization Project -FY 2004, 15,530 PDF files covering 1994 -FY 2005, 38,000 PDF files covering 1991-1993 -Project will continue based on available time and available funds -OSTI can provide OSTI IDs by Site Code if you wish to download the electronic FT United States Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information

DIGITAL DOCUMENTACCESS News Alert The Site full text is always considered the ‘record copy.’ If electronic full text for a document scanned at OSTI is submitted by a Site, the Site full text will replace the OSTI full text.
