  2. Welcome Back! • Introduction and Note cards • Discuss a few new features in class moving forward • A/B Sharing • Ground Rules and Expectations • Objective Display • Assignment boxes • Drill and Practice Station • Student Survey • Democracy Videos and KWL Announcements and Agenda

  3. Please take a note card and write the following: • Your name (What you want to be called) • The class period • An interesting fact about yourself (that you wouldn’t mind sharing) • Your favorite food • What are the cards for? Notecards

  4. Will happen often in class • Follow these rules: • One person at a time must talk for entire allotted time, but no longer than allotted time • Make Eye Contact • Refrain from using hand gestures • Only discuss prompt topic or related ideas • Today’s prompt: What did you do during your Spring Break? • Time allotment: One minute and thirty seconds each A/B Sharing

  5. 1) Maintain the classroom as a safe space • 2) Respect other people and their property • 3) Tell the truth • 4) Show that you care, pay attention • 5) Do what you can to prepare for and participate in learning Ground Rules

  6. 1) If you disagree, say so, and explain your opinion • 2) If you see something positive happen tell the person who made the difference • 3) If there is a problem tell the person who can make a difference; don't tell the people who can't make a difference • 4) Be safe, be yourself and be happy • 5) If you don't understand, ask. If you still do not understand, ask again • 6) Remember that this is your class: Share your opinions and take risks to think, learn and feel Expectations

  7. Each day the learning objective and reason why will be displayed. Daily Objective

  8. This station can be used to make note cards to study for tests and help learn new vocabulary. • If you finish a task early, this would be a good time to work on cards from the drill and practice station Drill and Practice Station

  10. One of the assignments that means the most (to me) and is also graded based on effort. • Please take your time and be thoughtful, do not answer if you feel uncomfortable • Answers will be kept confidential, but used to inform instruction • Time: 20 minutes Student Survey

  11. Take out a sheet of paper and set it up for a KWL activity. • K= What do you know about the word Democracy? How does it related to the United States? • W= What do you want to know? • L= What you learn from the videos shown in class… Democracy KWL
