  5. Heroes There are lots of different types of heroes. We’ve been telling their tales for ages!

  6. What is a hero? • 1. Write your own definition • What is a hero? How is he/she different from “normal” people? • 2. What qualities should a hero have? • 3. What does a hero do that sets them apart from others?

Who is your hero? • On a blank piece of paper, identify three people (real or fictional) whom you find heroic. • For each person… • Who are they? • List THREE ADJECTIVES to describe them • 2-3 sentences explaining what they do that makes them a hero in your eyes • EXAMPLE • Name: Gandhi • Who is he? A real person who helped India gain freedom through nonviolent protesting. • Three Adjectives: compassionate, resilient, moral • Gandhi is a hero to me because of his commitment to honoring all life. He refused to hurt others, even his “enemies.” He changed the world for the better, without causing pain.

A person is a hero because they act unselfishly, and put themselves at risk for others. Compassion is necessary in motivating someone to help other people. If you don’t FEEL for them, why HELP them?
