Discussions so far… • Belgium called for a more detailed evaluation plan in 2012 • Saint Lucia requested an Information Document on Category II Institutes with fact sheets, noting our review • Egypt asked for IOS Information Meetings twice a year • Denmark called for a progress report on the implementation of the IEE at the next session of the ExB • Important evaluation provisions in the IEE follow-up by ad hoc working group and in the DG’s action plan
Evaluation Plan and the Independent External Evaluation of UNESCO • Evaluations of all 14 Strategic Programme Objectives (SPOs) completed • Findings contributed to the Independent External Evaluation (IEE) • Evaluation plan for 2011 focuses on strategic areas identified by the IEE: inter alia Liaison Offices, National Commissions, Prizes, Category II Institutes, ICTP, Intercultural Dialogue, Priority Africa, Priority Gender Equality
Evaluation of UNESCO Liaison Offices • Improved visibility of UNESCO in New York and involvement in UN working groups • Geneva Liaison Office’s contribution to post-conflict post-disaster (PCPD) activities valued But… • Strategic guidance for liaison offices is needed • Role, function and accountability to be clarified • Reporting lines with HQ need to be defined • Better communication strategy to be elaborated
