In the beginning of the play, Theseus and Hippolyta are discussing their upcoming wedding when Egeus arrives upset. Why is he so upset?
He wants his daughter, Hermia, to marry Demetrius, but she loves and desires to marry Lysander.
What is the ruling Theseus gives to Hermia? In short, what are her choices?
She will have to choose to die or live in a nunnery unless she marries Demetrius as her father wishes her to do. Due to these choices, the couple decides to elope, telling Helena who of course tells Demetrius hoping to get on his good side again. So they all go off to the woods.
So what does Oberon decide to do to Titania? What does he order Robin/Puck to go find and bring back?
He decides to put Titania under a love spell using the nector from the flower cupid’s arrow hit, hoping she falls in love with a “vile thing” upon waking up from her sleep, as it will make her love whatever live creature she first sees upon waking up.
After seeing how Demetrius treats Helena, what does Oberon order Robin/Puck to do? Does he do this?
He orders him to put the love necter on Demetrius so he will love Helena back, but he puts it on the first “Athenian male” he sees instead which is Lysander. Lysander wakes up and first sees Helena, but Helena does not believe his love for her as she thinks he is just mocking her.
