PRODUCER OR BOARD OF DIRECTORS • Producer - is the “money” behind putting on a show - Examples of producers in theatre: Disney and Cameron Mackintosh • Board of Directors - decide how the money is to be spent, they do not usually put money into the show, sometimes they do, but usually they don’t - HORN IN THE WEST has a board of directors

  3. Artistic Director • In charge of all artistic decisions • Select directors • and designers and actors , ticket sales

  4. Areas under the Managing Director • Production Budget: how much money are we going to put towards each aspect of the show • Fund Development: Where the money’s coming from, sponsors, grants, etc. • Box Office: Where the tickets are sold and managed, how much is the show selling for.

  5. Areas under the Artistic Director • Scenic Designer • Costume Designer • Lighting Designer • Sound Designer • Playwright • Director • Production Manager

  6. Scenic Designer (Areas they control) • Property Master: Creating and finding props for the show. a. Prop Crew 2. Scenic Artist: Paints the set and floor of the stage a. Paint Crew 3. Technical Director or TD : in charge of purchasing construction materials, supervising building of the set, transporting the set pieces to the stage, mounting the set on stage, overseeing all aspects of technical production a. Scene Shop Foreman or Master 4. Carpenter a. Scene Construction Crew

  7. Costuming • Costume Shop Supervisor a. Cutter/Draper: cut out or create the pattern for the garments and puts it all together 1. Costume Crew: Little jobs around the costume shop

  8. Lighting • Master Electrician: in charge of bringing the designer’s design to reality a. Electricians

  9. Director • Actors • Stage Manager

  10. Stage Manager IT IS THE STAGE MANAGER’S SHOW AFTER THE FINAL DRESS REHEARSAL– THEY RUN IT • Stage Crew or Running Crew: move set pieces and fly drops in and out • Wardrobe Crew: Laundry, fixing ripped costumes, quick changes…

  14. Design Assignment--You must complete a colored rendering for both-- • Design the set for one of the following scenes: a. Badger’s House b. Toad Hall c. The Inn • Design one of the following props: (renderings from side, front, and back) a. Boat b. Motor Car

  15. Graded on each of these elements:Each rendering is graded then the grades are averaged together • Neatness • Use of Color • Creativity • Overall Concept – does it fit the show and Ms. K’s vision? • Use-ability – could Ms. K use it?
