City of Westminster Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea ICT Conference June 9th 2010 Going for ICT Mark and Beyond Philip Mann
Presentation brief: The online Becta self review framework, SRF, is being simplified. It has proved to be an excellent way of enabling schools to make strides in the development of their ICT. The SRF appears a daunting process to go through but there are ways to make it easier. This presentation will demonstrate the new materials, ways to make the process less laborious and how best to strive for the ICT Mark. For schools who wish to go beyond the ICT Mark, what are the hallmarks of ICT Excellence?
agenda • Meeting the Demands • Next Generation Learning - The Journey • Using the SRF - the practicalities • Going for the ICT Mark – preparation • Beyond the ICT Mark . . . . • The new SRF • What is ICT Excellence?

Making the process easier • Delegation – shared judgements, TAs, governors • Set a deadline – within a term? • Action plan - Finding out where you are using the SRF and what needs to be developed – the action plan • Monitor change carefully
The SRF .. What it’s all about? “SRF isn’t just about ICT and, interestingly, that is a key factor of its success. It focuses the mind on the whole spectrum of school development.” Steve Gator – Headteacher, Walker Technology College
The data • SRF content for a school the spreadsheet
Going for the ICT Mark There are currently 1180 schools that hold the ICT Mark.
The assessment day • The assessor agrees on three elements to look at more carefully (L/M, L/T and Impact for eg.) • Timings • Not window dressing • Selling your school’s ICT!

Stop press If a school intends to be assessed for the ICT Mark by 31 October 2010, and wishes to continue using the existing framework, they will be allowed access to the current framework via a separate link. We would like to stress that this will only be available to those schools who are applying for assessment by the 31 October 2010. Any data added to the current framework by the school after the original migration will not be copied to the revised framework. Schools will be responsible for manually entering this data themselves.
