Outcomes of kidney transplantation from ecd-dcd are comparable to ecd-dbd: a single centre experience Prodromos LAFTSIDIS P. Nagaraja; L. Szabo; E. Ablorsu Cardiff Transplant Unit, UK
METHODS • Single centre study • Prospectively / retrospectively collected data • October 2004 - January 2013 • 186 kidneys from ECD donors (90 ECD-DCD and 96 ECD-DBD) • The UNOS definition of ECD was adopted and applied for both DCDs and DBDs. • Primary endpoint: • Graft – Patient survival (up to 5 years) • fDGF, PNF, BPAR ESOT-Vienna 2013
Demographics ESOT-Vienna 2013
Results fDGF PNF p=0.309 p=0.0001 Yes BPAR p=0.463 No ESOT-Vienna 2013
Summary p=0.920 0.942 0.592 0.009 0.674 0.482 ESOT-Vienna 2013
Results Graft survival Patient survival p=0.613 p=0.095 ESOT-Vienna 2013
Summary • ECD-DCD KTs achieved excellent intermediate-term outcomes • (two years graft function and graft survival) that are comparable to ECD-DBD • Donor factor does not in isolation impact outcomes • Results encourage to increase kidney transplantation from ECD-DCD donors ESOT-Vienna 2013
