  3. PIKE PROBLEMS IN LAKE DAVIS

  4. INTRODUCTION:This is an Algebra I Simulation designed for grades 8 - 12. It involves Proportions and Equations, and has been developed from the Unit entitled "Estimating Fish Populations" (College Preparatory Math; Math 1, Volume 1). Fisheries Biologists have determined that the Northern Pike in Lake Davis near Portola, California pose a threat to the various trout and catfish populations. The lake has been drained down and poisoned to remove the pike in recent years. Due to environmental and health concerns (Lake Davis has been a major water source for the town of Portola), the California State Department of Fish & Game has hired your company to make a post-poisoning study of the various fish populations currently found in the lake.
