Progression Pathways for 4N(A) • “Through-train” to poly for eligible students • Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) • ITE DES-to-Poly Programme (DPP) • Promotion to Sec 5 • ELMAB3 ≤ 19, and • At least N(A)-level Grade 5 for all subjects used in computing ELMAB3 • Progression to ITE • Retention at Sec 4NA • ELMAB3 ≤ 21, or ELB3 ≤ 14, or MAB3 ≤ 14; and • Overaged by not more than 4 yrs (for Singaporeans and PRs) (born on or after 1 Jan 1994), or • Overaged by not more than 2 yrs(IS) (born on or after 1 Jan 1996); and • Sat for GCE N(A) Exam only once previously 2

4. Polytechnic Foundation Prog (PFP) • For N(A) students who are academically strong and clearly polytechnic bound • ELMAB3 aggregate of 11 points or less and meet subject-specific Minimum Entry Requirements • The PFP is a one-year foundation programme for polytechnic-bound students offering a practice-oriented curriculum taught by polytechnic lecturers. PFP students are given provisional places in diploma programmes, subject to them passing all modules in the one-year PFP. • Eligible N(A) students will be invited to apply for the PFP after the release of the ‘O’-Level results • Students interested in applying to the PFP should first progress to Secondary 5 on 2 January 2014

5. ITE DES-to-Poly Prog (DPP) • For N(A) students who are fairly strong academically • ELMAB3 aggregate of 19 points or less and meet subject-specific Minimum Entry Requirements • Students accepted into the DPP will enrol into Higher Nitec courses at ITE, and are subsequently guaranteed a place in a polytechnic diploma course mapped to their Higher Nitec, subject to them meeting the Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements.

6. For students who are only interested in the PFP: • You should progress to Sec 5, and apply for the PFP in January. Students who have accepted their PFP offers will withdraw from Sec 5 by the end of January. • Being eligible to apply for the PFP does not guarantee a successful placement into a PFP course. For students who are only interested in the DPP: • You should apply to the DPP between 19 to 23 Dec. • Students who have accepted their DPP offers in December should not continue with Sec 5.

7. For students who are uncertain and/or interested in both PFP and DPP: • If you are certain that you do not want to continue with Sec 5 and pursue the GCE O-Levels, you may apply for the DPP in December. Upon the release of the GCE O-Level results in January, eligible students may apply for the PFP. If you are offered and accept a PFP place, you may withdraw from the DPP. Alternatively, • You may progress to Sec 5 first. Upon release of the GCE O-Level results in January, you may then apply for the PFP and DPP concurrently

9. Notes for DPP application for students taking GCE ‘O’ Level Subject Examination in 2013 • Students can proceed to apply for courses listed in Form N • For other courses that you are eligible but not listed in Form N, can apply at Customer & Visitor Centre @ Ang Mo Kio (Read Pg. 81)

11. Progression Pathways for 4N(T) • Progression to ITE (Based on best 4 GCE ‘N’ subjects, including pre-requisite subjects and bonus points) • Enhanced Nitec Foundation Programme • Help NT students with 0 or 1 GCE ‘N’(Tech) Level pass • 3-Yr NitecCourse (2 yrs of foundation training, third year for Career Core curriculum) • If application is unsuccessful, candidate can apply to school for repeat. Approval on case-by-case basis • Lateral transfer to Sec 4N(A) • Grade A for both EL and Math, and Grade B or better for one other subject at N(T)-level in one sitting • If a 4N(T) student has taken one or more N(A) subjects: a) If the N(A) subject offered is EL or MA, a passing grade may be used as Grade A for the respective subject at N(T)-level b) If the N(A) subject offered is neither EL nor MA, a passing grade may be used to replace the Grade B required for the one other subject at N(T)-level. 11
