Connectivity Today … Integrator … Integrator …
Two Main Chalenges • Simplify message transport • Improve the way we are dealing with semantics …Also • Must be done in a way that allows easy access to SME’s…
Integration Hubs and VAN’s … One Hub Another Hub
More than a Hub Single PointOf Access • Globally Addressable • Secure • Independent from Semantics or Applications • Independent from Vendor or Provider • Simple and Easy to Use
Addressing DNS Existing system EAP INTERNET EAP EAP Existing system Existing system EAP • Still need to resolve: • Security • Semantics Existing system
Overall challenge Why should I trust? Trust Sender Receiver How do I transport my document? Registry How do I advertise my capabilities? Who can I reach? Where can I send my document?
Busdox – Business Document Interchange Preparing the e-freight Access Point Architecture • Service Metadata Locator (SML): • The SML is the key component of enabling the register for exchange of business documents. • ROOT PKI (Circle of trust) • The ROOT PKI is used to create the core circle of trust between AP’s, SMP’s and SML. • Together with the usage of SAML Sender Vouches assertion tokens this create a flexible – yet trustworthy – 4-corner model for realising the foundation of electronic documents exchange • The BusDox specifications • Is now target of a OASIS technical committee working on the standardization of the current specification
Simple, Easy to Use and… little investment requirements • Development and Integration cannot not be mandatory, SME’s must be able to use off-the-shelf compatible apps • Guidance and Support for legacy system integration must be a part of the overall architecture, even if this interface will be the last to be developed
Semantics • Profiles define na actor comunicaion capability. • Profiles represent a process not a message, in processes a conversation or protocol envolving a set of messages is clearly defined • All profiles have a core imutable version, ensuring minimum compatability, but can be extended using conbinations ofspecific modules for specific scenarios • THERE ARE NO “IMPLEMENTATION GUIDES”
Technical Overview E-Delivery Infra-structure
The e-Delivery Infrastructure E-freight Compatible solutions (e.g. NSW, authorities, GDS, Shipping Portals) Major LSP’s and LSC’s SME’s (LSP’s and LSC’s) EAP INTERNET Existing system EAP EAP E-freight App EAP EAP EAP AppStore Legacy system E-freightserviceproviderswillhave to beable to interconnect, building a global network. This is a similar model to the one supporting e-mail today!
Access Points E-freight Access Points E-freight Compatible solutions (e.g. NSW, authorities, GDS, Shipping Portals) • Single connections point for applications, able to relay information to other access points. • Can be implemented in-house if data security or privacy is a concern. This is a decision comparable to use an external e-mail provider or implement the server in-house. • Actors declare support for profiles, ensuring interoperability at the semantic level • Extensible to host other services like Stores, Tracking,TSD or STD repository Major LSP’s and LSC’s SME’s (LSP’s and LSC’s) EAP INTERNET Existing system EAP EAP E-freight App EAP EAP EAP Legacy system
Stores And Apps Make e-freightcompatibleapplicationsavailable to actors. Stores and Apps E-freight Compatible solutions (e.g. NSW, authorities, GDS, Shipping Portals) • Typically , small and off-the-shelf applications serving specific functions and market requirements • Readily available applications, supporting e-Freight profiles • Multiple stores and vendors may and shall coexist, allowing the actors to chose the best suited solution for their needs, without compromising interoperability Major LSP’s and LSC’s SME’s (LSP’s and LSC’s) EAP INTERNET Existing system EAP EAP E-freight App EAP EAP EAP AppStore Legacy system
Compatible Solutions Existing, in-house or tailored solutions for actors participating in e-freight enabled transport chains E-freight compatible solutions E-freight Compatible solutions (e.g. NSW, authorities, GDS, Shipping Portals) • Typically these will be large scale systems design to meet specific needs of a given actor or customized solutions • These will use the e-freight framework and services by connecting to a E-Freight provider, exposing support for a given number of profiles • Examples are: Single windows, large transport provider systems, authorities, existing and legacy systems, typically , small and off-the-shelf applications serving specific functions and market requirements Major LSP’s and LSC’s SME’s (LSP’s and LSC’s) EAP INTERNET Existing system EAP EAP E-freight App EAP EAP EAP Legacy system
