Mental Disorder (Vocab) • An illness of the mind that can affect the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of a person, preventing him or her from leading a happy, healthful, and productive life.
Stigma (Vocab) • A mark of shame or disapproval that results in an individual being shunned or rejected by others.
Types of Mental Disorders • Anxiety Disorders • Impulse Control Disorders • Eating Disorders • Mood Disorders • Conduct Disorders • Schizophrenia • Personality Disorders
Anxiety Disorder (Vocab) • A condition in which real or imagined fears are difficult to control. • Examples: Phobias, Obsessive-compulsive disorder, Panic disorder ,Post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD).
Impulse Control Disorder • The person cannot resist the urge to hurt themselves or others. • Examples: Gambling, Kleptomania, Cutting, Pyromania, Shopping.
Eating Disorders • Extreme, harmful eating behaviors that can cause a serious illness or even death • Examples: Anorexia, Bulimia, and Binge eating.
Mood Disorders • An illness that involves mood extremes that interfere with everyday living. • Examples: Depression and Bipolar

Schizophrenia • Mental disorder in which a person loses contact with reality. • Symptoms: Delusions, hallucinations and thought disorders.
Personality Disorders • Not being able to regulate your emotions. • Examples: Stressed in social situations or being distressing to others.
