Reducing Test Anxiety: Be Prepared • Find out the format of the test • Predict test questions • Review old exams • Ask a tutor or friend about content/structure
Reducing Test Anxiety: Before the Test • Be positive!! Utilize positive self-talk or visualization. • Keep to your schedule – avoid cramming and don’t skip meals. • Be prepared and arrive early. • Avoid other people’s stress.
Reducing Test Anxiety: During the Test • Read directions C A R E F U L L Y!! • Ask questions if you need to. • Rephrase questions you don’t understand. • “Be here now” – stay present and focused. • If you feel anxious, close your eyes and breathe for 30 seconds. • Check your work!! • Stay positive!! • Do your best and let the rest go!
