What is SWITCHcast? • SWITCHcast was developed to record, edit and publish lectures over the internet. • Events are being recorded locally with the aid of a recorder software. • Suitable for recording are events like lectures, conferences, workshops or video messages. • The download or streaming in various formats takes pace via a central server at SWITCH.

  4. Record lectures • Computer (Intel Mac, 1 GB RAM, Mac OS X 10.5) with an internet connection • SWITCH’s free recorder software • Video camera (firewire-compatible) • Microphone or other audio source • Epiphan frame grabber (optional, only essential for fully automated recordings)

  5. Publish recordings • QuickTime (offline) • Podcast (offline) • Flash (online)

  6. View recordings • Public: accessible to all internet users • Restricted: accessible only for users belonging to the same organisation as the owner • Private: accessible only for users with owner authorisation
