Literature • Short stories • Poetry • Nonfiction/ Informational Reading • Novels • Drama (Play)
Reading Skills • SAT and ARMT practice work • Vocabulary words • Elements of Literature/ Drama • Main idea, sequence of events, etc. • Thinking skills for reading
Grammar • Review of editing • (Capitalization, punctuation, etc.) • Parts of speech • (Nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, & interjections)
Writing • NO ADAW will be given this year. • (5th, 7th, 10th) • Speeches • Book Reports • Poetry • Journals
Classroom Procedures Work will always be turned in on the front table at the end of class. Grades assignments are put in the crates in the back of the classroom. Volunteers may pass them out. Late assignments will not be accepted.
Textbooks • Grammar Book and Two Literature Books • DO NOT take them with you. If you need a book, I will allow you to check one out from me. • Most of our work will be done in class. Unruly classes get homework. • Make-up work is the STUDENT’S responsibility.
**EXAMS** • Given each semester – December and May • Midterms (August to December) • Everybody has to take this one. • Final Exams (August to May • Given last few days of school • You may exempt, if you meet requirements
Exam Tips • Come to school! • Keep all old tests and study guides. • (I DO NOT make copies for students.) • Stay out of trouble. • Try to maintain your grades.
