Gibson Guitars Good or Bad for globalization ???
About Gibson. Click one: How are the guitars made made? Location of Gibson Co. How does Gibson effect globalization? How is Gibson negatively effected by globalization? What will the likely future be for Gibson? Personal opinions END
How are The Guitars made? First: the wood is prepared and cut to the right shapes Second: they are coated in certain types of varnishes. Third: while the guitar bodies are being coated, the necks begin to be shaped. Fourth: the guitars are painted and assembled. Fifth: they are strung and shipped off.
Location of Gibson Co. Gibson’s Main building is located in Memphis, Tennessee
How does Gibson effect globalization? Gibson takes advantage of globalization by using sweat shops to make there guitars. The main building does not make the guitars but it does sell them. The sweat shops are mainly in China, Europe, and there is one in Japan. Some guitars can be built for $1,000 and sold for $10,000
How is Gibson negatively effected by globalization? Gibson is negatively effected by the amount of hate mail they receive for using sweat shops. Also, some of the guitars they make can brake during shipment and this can cause a loss of up to $30,000
What will the most likely future be for gibson? Gibson will most likely stay in the business but if campaigning against sweatshops gets to big then they could be in trouble.
Personal opinions. I own a Gibson Guitar and I have no problem with the way it’s made. If there is no work for people living with poverty then Gibson provides work. It’s not such a get yelled at or beaten sweat shop but it isn’t perfect either.
