2. Substantiv: Plural

Substantiv i plural får oftast ändelsen -s. T.ex • onecar – manycars

Substantiv som slutar på ett s- eller sje-ljud får i plural ändelsen -es. T.ex • one glass – manyglasses • one box – manyboxes • one bush – manybushes

Substantiv som slutar på konsonant + y far i plural ändelsen -ies T.ex one baby – many babies

Vissa substantiv som slutar på -o far i plural ändelsen -oes. T.ex one potato – six potatoes

De flesta substantiv som slutar på -f eller -fe far i plural ändelsen -ves T.ex one wife - many wives

Det finns också substantiv som helt ändrar form från singular till plural(oregelbunden plural) T.ex • one foot – two feet • one woman – two women • one child – two children • one tooth – many teeth • one man – many men • one mouse – two mice

Några substantiv har samma form i singular som plural. T.ex. onesheep, manysheep
