  1. Block Ack Identifier Ivan Oakes, STMicroelectronics July 2004 Ivan Oakes, STMicroeletronics

  2. Immediate Block Ack • Block Ack has both Immediate andDelayed forms • In the Immediate form BlockAck is sent SIFS - (RxTxTurnAroundTime)after BlockAckReq • Typically hardware must lookup TA and TID and obtain the corresponding BlockAckBitmap – can this be simplified? Ivan Oakes, STMicroeletronics

  3. Adding Block Ack Identifier • This process can be simplified if a BlockAckIdentifier (“BID”) is exchanged at initialisation • The process being similar to use of AID in Association + PS-Poll . • BID would be 16bit and assigned by the receiver using an algorithm of its choosing in response to a ADDBA request Ivan Oakes, STMicroeletronics

  4. Adding Block Ack Identifier • The BID is used by the originator when requesting with a BlockAckReq • The receiver can use the BID to look up the appropriate BlockAck bitmap quickly • For example by allocating the BID as an index into an array of bitmaps - the choice of BID is up to the implementer of the receiver Ivan Oakes, STMicroeletronics

  5. BID - Example Of Use ADDBS.Req Allocate BID, e.g. 0, 1, or 2 as index into records ADDBS.Res(BID) Records of receive Success 0 1 DATA 2 Database of Records One per TA + TID BID Used to lookup quickly Bitmap BlockAckReq(BID) SIFS BlockAck(Bitmap) Ivan Oakes, STMicroeletronics

  6. Block Ack Identifier - Changes • ADDBA response (7.4.4.2) extended to have BID: • Order 7: BlockAckIdentifier (BID) • BlockAckReq modified to have BID • “BAR Control” replaced BID (16 bits) Note: If the receiver sets BID = TID in ADDBA response, then there is no change to the BlockAckReq from draft 802.11e-D8. Ivan Oakes, STMicroeletronics

  7. Block Ack Identifier • Full text of change is in document11-04-0745-00-000e Motion follows… Ivan Oakes, STMicroeletronics

  8. Motion • Request that the Editor incorporate changes in Document 11-04-0745-00-000e relating to Block Ack Identifier (BID) into the TGe draft. Ivan Oakes, STMicroeletronics
