Adobe Forms B Training • 135 people attended the two sessions this week • Slides & handout posted to the OSP website under “Announcements” • Agenda – Restructured forms, page limits, common errors/checklist, primary performance site, new RCR requirement by NIH, UW resources • Follow-up email will be sent to the MRAM email list with new NIH information
February & March Deadlines • Forms B will increase the # of submission errors resulting in their system having more “traffic” • Get your application to OSP for earlier submission to ensure submission before the deadline • GIM 19 – 10 day, 5 day and 2 day deadlines • Therefore, the application must be at OSP, and stay at OSP, to meet the policy. Submitting and then withdrawing the application does not meet the policy.
RCR Training Requirement • New NSF requirement for Responsible Conduct of Research • Mandates training for students and postdocs • Effective January 4, 2010 • America COMPETES Act (America Creating Opportunities to Meaningfully Promote Excellence in Technology, Education)
UW Response • UW conducted an assessment • Office of Research, Undergrad Academic Affairs, Grad School, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs • 2 web-based programs meet NSF requirement • PIs with NSF funding received email from Jeff Cheek • Students and postdoctoral researchers must complete this required training either within the first year of their working on an NSF-supported project or before they conclude their commitment to the project • Office of Research RCR Training websitehttp://www.washington.edu/research/main.php?page=rcr
Therefore, • For all funded NSF proposals submitted on or after 1/4/10, including supplemental funding of existing awards, • Principal Investigators will be responsible for ensuring that any students and/or postdoctoral researchers who are working or volunteering on their NSF-supported research project take the required online RCR
Undergrad Students • Undergraduate students working or volunteering on NSF-funded projects must complete the RCR online training offered through the UW Center on Materials and Devices for Information Technology Research (CMDITR) http://www.responsibleresearch.org/ • Questions? Grad Students & Postdoc Researchers • Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers working or volunteering on NSF-funded projects must complete the online RCR training offered through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI): https://www.citiprogram.org/ • Questions? • Grad Students should contact your Grad Prog Advisor • Postdocs should contact your Departmental Administrator
HRSA Login • Do not get your own login from HRSA • Ask your OSP administrator for the proper login to use on your application • This will allow OSP to access and submit your application
