Project Overview • Produce tour-based commercial vehicle model • Based on 2001-04 Calgary/Edmonton models • Interim model from California Statewide system • Survey of individual business establishments in San Diego County • Two pilot surveys • Surveys Dec 2012 - May 2013 • Model complete early 2014

  3. Learning from 2001 AB Surveys • Expanded from “commercial vehicle” to “work-related travel” • Changed employment focus from land use to SOC • Simplified by removing establishment and depot-specific forms • Simplified by removing questions on shipment commodity & value

Sample Frame • Establishment is basic sample unit • 600 estab. with travel (2500 tours) • Segments: • Geography (4 or 5) × Industry (7) • Establishment size (3 levels) × Industry (7) • Special targets • Most active shippers • Fleet allocators (e.g. postal, newspaper, garbage, utilities) • East San Diego County
