  2. NIP Status • T&T acceded Dec. 15 2002 • Cabinet appointed committee established in 2003 • NIP proposal submitted to GEF for funding Feb. 2004 • Proposal returned (late 2004) for format modification and budget query • Proposal to be resubmitted to GEF by end of March 2005

  3. Current Situation on Hazardous Wastes • No formalized system of collection, treatment and disposal • Waste management regulation in development stage (technical draft completed) • Hazardous waste inventory to be undertaken (mid 2005) • Proposal for a PBT study in human biomarkers & foodstuff (awaiting funding & approvals)

  4. Potential Sources • Cement Kiln • Iron Steel • Petroleum Refining • Biomedical Incineration • Open Burning • Crematoria • Power Generation • Aluminum Production • 24 T DDT
