Tim Hawkinson • Born in San Francisco, California in 1960. • Graduated San Jose University then got his MFA at University of California, Los Angeles in 1989. • He made a stadium size, fully working, bag pipe called the Uberorgan. • His inspiration for many of his pieces has been re-imagining his own body and what it means to make a self-portrait of this new body.
Tim Hawkinson !! • In 1997 he created an exciting, two-inch tall skeleton of a bird with his own fingernail clippings, and then made a feather and an egg from his own hair. • Even at a close distance, these works show his attention to detail and his obsession with life, death, and the passage of time.
THE POINT!!! The point in researching this artist is because he is an inspiration to young people across the globe. His work is quite weird but it shows his attention to detail and how much time he puts into his work. He’s worth researching in this class because he has made an Uberorgan made out of electrical hardware and plastic sheeting. Then he made several robot replicas of himself and programmed them to beat out religious music. He’s worth researching for the art world because he has made many amazing sculptures of himself and other things. He is an inspiration to many people.
COMPUTERS! He uses computers to program some of his artwork. In his Uberorgan he created robots and stuck them on a tree and programmed them to beat out a rhythm. Uberorgan 2000

Opinions • Savannah’s- I believe his artwork is amazing. I like the way he puts real life and fiction into his work. He creates weird sculptures and that’s what I like. His obsessions with Death and Life make his artwork more enjoyable to me. • Tanisha’s- I think that his artwork is weird but hard not to like. His obsessions are crazy awesome. His obsessions about death and life make you want to look at all of his surprisingly amazing artwork.
