Current Scholarship Program (CSP) 2010: JSTOR launches Current Scholarship program to help the academic community – presses, scholarly associations, libraries, faculty, and students – benefit from investment in a shared technology platform and related services to support the economically sustainable publication, dissemination, and use of new scholarship. Publisher Participants: • Deep understanding library needs and the challenges and inefficiencies inherent in the current system of scholarly communication. • Desire to collaborate in ways that are innovative, share and use technological and other resources wisely and efficiently, and promote wide-spread access to scholarship in sustainable ways.
Two Components of CSP: Current Issues 1) 2011: Current Issues of select publishers available on JSTOR platform. • Current issue subscribers may align titles with JSTOR back file. • Seamless access across entire run of title on JSTOR platform. • “Current” Single Title/Collection: Prices established by publisher. • Full Run” Single Title/Collection: Fee is an aggregate of current price, set by publisher, plus individual back file fee, set by JSTOR.70% of e-only subscription price Available on JSTOR Backfile Issues Current Issues Vol. 1 Issue 1 Current Vol. Issue Moving Wall
Two Components of CSP: Current Issues 2011: 174 titles; 19 publishers for subscription year 2012: 5 new publishers / 13 new titles signed for 2012 subscription year (as of 16 March)
Current Issue Ordering Options • Place renewal and/or new orders directly with JSTOR • Simple process • Subscription Order Form • Rider to JSTOR license for existing participants • Price calculator to estimate ordering cost • No additional fees Place renewal and/or new orders with subscription agents, with the exception of Archive back file collections. • Print-only orders must be made to the publisher or subscription agent
Two Components of CSP: e-Books at JSTOR 2) 2012: 8 University Press publishers to host their e-books on JSTOR • Currently refining business model for subscription and perpetual access, including DRM, ILL, etc • May order via book wholesalers or directly with JSTOR.

Savings for Libraries and Consortia • Fees for backfile collections remain constant; millions of pages are added to collections every year. • Currently offer savings of 9% to ANKOS members. • Direct orders for Current Issues and e-Books avoids Agent fees. • Realize and extend cost savings for single licensing / single invoicing • Evaluating volume-based savings with Current Issue purchases. • For example, Complete University of Chicago Package
