  3. Best Times to Reach 6th Grade Teachers: • 7:45 – 8:00 AM • 10:07-10:59 Mon. – Thurs. (9:54-10:40 Fri.) • 3:15 – 3:45 PM • 6th Grade teachers can be reached during these times by phone, for conferences, or via e-mail. • The BEST time to reach a 6th grade teacher is between 10:15 and 10:55 • Office, Administration, & Guidance have hours from 7:45 AM – 3:45 PM.

  5. Grading Periods: August 13th – October 21st October 22th – January 8th January 9th – March 11th March 12th – May 20th Students receive grades every 9 weeks. At the end of the year the grades received on each of the 9 week reports will be averaged together for their final year long grade.

Defending Their Work The 6th grade year will be a time when students learn to ask and answer question, explore new applied learning experiences, to research, to work in teams, and to defend their work. Frequently Asked Questions • What does a typical day “look like” for a 6th grader? • Arrive and eat breakfast or go upstairs to the 6th grade area. • Attend Advisory and 1st period combined. • Attend 2nd period, then 3rd period. • Attend 4th period, lunch is approximately between 11:30 and 12:00. • Attend 5th, 6th, and 7th period. • Dismissal

What About the Dress Code? • Modest, appropriate dress is a MUST! • Shorts no shorter than mid-thigh. • No Flip Flops OR backless sandals. • No sleeveless tops, shirts, or dresses unless accompanied by a jacket at all times. • Yoga pants ARE allowed IF worn with a mid-thigh length top. A more detailed explanation will be sent home on the first day of school. “Dress Code Check” will occur each morning between 8:10 and 8:15. Parents will be called to bring appropriate clothing if needed.

What About Lockers??? • Lockers will be assigned on the 1st day of school. • If possible, please purchase a “spin” type lock for your child to practice with before school begins. • Students will have time to practice locker procedures when they are assigned a locker. • Locker visit times will be determined by each grade level team.

  11. What About Cell Phones??? • Students MAY carry their cell phone with them during the day. • Students MAY NOT use them for any purpose unless given permission by a teacher for instructional purposes. • “Cell Phone Check” is a 5 minute period during lunch to receive communication from parents. • “Cell Phone Reward” (CPR) can be administered by teachers at their discretion.

What About Communication?? • Email is a GREAT way to communicate directly with the principal or teachers. • Information is available on our webpage. • Our Facebook page is a great place to post questions and to find event information. • You will receive phone messages via our phone messenger system.
