Purpose • NPMA Special Interest Groups (SIGs) have been formulated to: • Serve the NPMA membership by forming organized groups to support and address members’ specific interests • Assist members in enhancing their knowledge and proficiencies in areas of specific interests • Provide national level forums that cross over all three regions’ membership

  3. Guidelines • All SIGs will be considered specific groups established for NPMA members and will operate as sub-groups under the NPMA charter •  Any active member may submit a request to initiate a SIG to the National Director of SIG •  To initiate a new SIG, in general, a minimum of twenty (20) members should be interested and willing to participate • Only active NPMA members are permitted to request the initiation of a new SIG and are able to participate in the SIG program • Active members may participate in one or more SIG based on their interests •  SIG memberships do not require any additional membership fee at the National level

Overview of Federal Property SIG • The Federal Property Management Special Interest Group has been formed: • To enable members to enhance their knowledge in the Federal property; • to provide a leadership role in Federal property management initiatives; • to provide research and guidance in Federal property management issues; • to support the creation of standards and leading practices applicable to Federal property management; • to become a venue for discussion and networking for Federal property management.* • *Charter for Federal Property Management Special Interest Group

  6. Federal Property SIG Officers • Officers are in place: • Chair: Robert Holcombe • Vice Chair: James Begis • Work Group Coordinator: Marsha Campbell • Secretary: Valerie Rovine • Treasurer: Amber Barber

Status of Federal Property SIG • Initial Membership has been established • Contact Valerie Rovine at vrovine@sunflowersystems.com • Visit NPMA Online SIG Forums to join • Initial Work Group topics have been defined: • Strategic Acquisitions • Standard Staffing Models • Disposal and Donations. • Regular SIG member meetings will be scheduled on a quarterly basis • On-line SIG Forum will be major platform for disseminating information

Overview of Contract Property SIG • The Contract Property SIG is oriented toward issues and interests specific to property professionals in organizations holding government contracts • Primary goals of the SIG: • Disseminate breaking news • Announce/share policy updates and • Provide a forum for the exchange of information • Provide a place to ask questions and get answers from industry leaders

Status of Contract Property SIG • SIG Membership is over 70 people and growing • Active online discussion groups on contract property topics s • We are looking to start quarterly webinars in 2010 • In-person meetings will be held at NES and at other NPMA events where a large concentration of members can be expected • Next planned in-person meeting is at NPMA National Capital Area Conference in March, 2010
