  2. 3 4 7 Essay ▶Reading Comprehension 1 King Arthur “All the knights must come to the Abbey in London,” said Merlin. In front of the Abbey, there was a big, square stone with a sword sticking out of it. ”Whoever pulls this sword from the stone is the true-born King of England.” Merlin read the words on the stone. Every knight went up to try his luck. But none of them could pull out the sword from the stone. Sir Ector rode to London with his two sons, Kay and Arthur. Kay just became a knight, but Arthur was only sixteen. Kay left his sword at an inn, and Arthur had to find a sword for Kay. As he rode past the Abbey, he glanced into the churchyard and saw a sword stuck in a stone. He pulled out the sword and gave it to Kay. ”Father! Look! I have the sword from the stone. I must be the King of England!” shouted Kay. Sir Ector was not a fool. He took both boys back to the Abbey. Arthur returned the sword to the stone. Sir Ector and Kay tried to pull it out, but it wouldn’t move. But Arthur easily pulled out the sword. Sir Ector and Kay fell to their knees before Arthur. Arthur became the King of England. ☞ Choose the best answer based on the article.
