4 x 4 Schedule UpdateDesign Team Goals • Design the decision making process. • Monitor decisions so that they are made in a timely manner and with as much consistency across the schools where we need it. • Contribute to the decision-making process at the division level and communicate decisions. • Help monitor and troubleshoot implementation. • Ensure professional development and growth for all through this process.
4 x 4 Schedule UpdateDesign Team Members • Each school will be represented by 2 teachers, 1 counselor, 1 administrator, and 2 students • Additional members will a 1 teacher, 1 student and Dr. Miller from Murray High School, a Parent Council member, and Rachael Collier, who will address SIS considerations
4 x 4 Schedule UpdateMock High School Schedule • Beginning time for each school is 8:50 • Dismissal time for each school is 3:50 • Using class time, passing time, and intervention period time students will be receiving 146.25 hours of clock time per course, per semester. The state minimum standard is 140 hours. • The 6.25 hours translates into 3.8 days of bank time per semester, per course.
4 x 4 Schedule UpdateBudget Reduction Strategies • Furloughs and reduction of calendar days – going to an 8 period day will affect the number of bank days • Transportation efficiencies – We will need to look at bus routes to ensure all students arrive at the building by 8:45 and how a 3:50 dismissal time affects buses where middle and high school students ride together.
