  1. David Livingstone19.03.1813 — 1.05.1873 Explorer of Africa, discovered the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls, explored rivers and lakes.

  2. David Livingstone was born in the village of Blantyre in a poor Scottish family.

  3. November 20, 1840 Livingstone was granted the status of the missionary, at the end of that year he sailed to Africa and arrived in Cape Town March 14, 1841.

  4. Livingstone made several long trips in the South and in the Center of Africa (1840).

  5. Soon after he settled in Mabotse, he was attacked by a lion once, who beat him severely and broke his left arm.

  6. In June 1849 Livingstone, accompanied by African conductors, was the first European who crossed the Kalahari Desert and explored the lake Ngami on the southern edge of the Okavango swamps, discovered on August 1.

  7. Livingstone and his companions landed on the bank of the Zambezi, where they saw a grand waterfall up to 1800 m wide and 120 m high. This waterfall Livingstone named after Queen Victoria.
