  2. TRiO Programs • Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (initially just three programs). • Now there are 7 (UB, UB Math Science, Veterans UB, ETS, SSS, EOC, McNair, Training

  3. Purpose • To provide educational opportunity for all Americans regardless of race, ethnic background or economic circumstance. • TRiO Programs assist LI/FG Americans to enter college, graduate and move on to participate more fully in America's economic and social life.

  4. TRiO Programs • First-generation (FG) Neither parent graduated from college (4-year) • Low-income (LI) Come from families at or below 150% of poverty (2/$21,000) As determined by the US Census Bureau

  10. UB Degree Completion2005 APR Data 64.5% 5-year degree completion rate • UB Participants are 4 times more likely to earn an undergraduate degree than those students from similar backgrounds who did not participate in TRIO. COE 2008
