  1. Marine Atlases using Argo data • Global and Pacific beta versions • PC compatible needs an X server • Uses Ferret to create plots • 4-D gridded Argo map created by D. Roemmich & J. Gilson (manuscript in preparation) • Working with Paul Eastwood & PI-GOOS • Intended users: • Teachers/classrooms • Government officials • Scientists

  2. Ideas for future • Continue improving current Atlas features • Add in other plot options (other properties, datasets, etc) • Keep Altas flexible • substitute your own gridded netcdf data into the Atlas • Respond to user feedback • Encourage users to contribute their own jnl files • Let users “print” plots by creating jpg or gif files • Compare Argo data to other datasets such as TAO • Distribute the Atlas regularly with updated gridded Argo maps • Contact Dean or me if you’d like to test the Atlas on your PC

  3. Argo and TAO A comparison of Argo and TAO data has not yet been done. There are now many more Argo floats than moorings in the equatorial Pacific. Atlas can be a tool to help identify any systematic differences Pressure (dbar) TArgo , Dec 2007, 2oN to 2oS avg.
